Windimurra Vanadium
Windimurra Vanadium (previously known as Precious Metals Australia) commissioned Multipro to build a voice and data network to connect their West Perth office, the Windimurra site and their camp.
Telstra frame relay was available at site so the design involved integrating voice and data and passing all calls via the data link back to the Perth office where they enter the telecommunications voice networks to bypass long-distance tolls.
A project office was established in the Perth CBD to house the additional staff required during construction. Multipro connected the project office using a metro fibre optic link allowing the phones to be a seamlessly integrated as part of the West Perth phone system.
The system built by Multipro included the following:
- Provided the company free calls between their camp, mine site, Perth project office and West Perth head office
- The camp and site can make calls to external companies in the Perth area at local call costs
- Consists of over 230 phones (57 in the camp, 112 on the mine site, 46 in the project office and 22 in the West Perth head office)
- Integrates voice and data over copper cables, microwave/radio links, metro fibre optic links, local fibre optic links and long haul frame relay links
- Crystal clear voice calls in all directions (exceeds Telstra line voice clarity on site).
- Created separate networks for over 10 different contractors on site providing them with secure connections to their offices in Perth.
- Provided secure file sharing facilities for all parties.
- Provided an Internet access network for site employees with an Internet Kiosk for public use.
- Rated by users as the best mine site ICT system they have worked with.
